A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff

A Vintage Affair
By Isabel Wolff

About the Book
Phoebe Swift always dreamt of opening her own vintage dress shop. She imagined every detail from Vivienne Westwood skirts hanging next to satin gowns, to sequinned prom dresses adorning the walls.

At the launch of Village Vintage, Phoebe fells the tingle of excitement as customers snap up the fairytale dresses. Her dream had come true, but a secret from her past is casting a shadow over her new venture.

Then one day she meets Therese, an elderly French woman with a collection to sell, apart from one piece that she won't part with....

As Therese tells the story of the little blue coat, Phoebe becomes aware of a profound connection with her own life, one that will help her heal the pain of her past and allow her to love agian.

My View
It was a pleasant read, and is a wonderful and very moving book about friendship, regret and redemption. It is a real page-turner and at times very funny.
A great summer read and can't wait for it to made into a film!

Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic & Baby
By
Sophie Kinsella

Becky's life is blooming. She's working at London's newest fashion store The Look, house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is to have a Shoe Room).... and she's pregnant! She couldn't be more overjoyed - especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery.... to the latest, coolest pram.....to a celebrity, must-have obstetrician.

But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luck's glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble.

My View

I find this one the best book of the series so far. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day! It doesn't have as many funny bits as the others but i find the story line better and read this just before i had my first child.

As with all of the Shopaholic books it is written well with some new characters in it.

Life is a Game of Luck

Life is a Game of Luck

Ok well only some of it is, life is what you make it. If you sit on your bum all day you're going to get nowhere in life, but if you take that bum of yours and take a walk you might just end up with an idea that could change the world. Or maybe it'll just change a bit, whether it's making money or helping an old person cross the road, it's what makes the world go round. So i hear you say 'What are you doing to make the world go round?'. Well, I have got off my bum kind of to write this post, i was a shoulder to cry on for my friend, and made a cake for my old next door neighbor.

I need to learn to listen to myself and do more of this. So that's why i have done this blog post, to try and put it in my brain more and for me to do what i say, dipping my toe in the water and doing the odd little thing at a time does make the world go round.
