Cat in the Hat - Book Review

I normally do a book review on the books I read, but I've read so many books to Little Miss P and she reads her books to me, so I thought I would do a review on one of the books that she has read recently.

Little Miss P's reading age is what it should be for her age, so 6 years old, so I try and get books aimed for her age and younger because it's still nice and helps them with confidence when they can read all the words in the book.

So today my review is on the children's book 'If I Ran the Dog Show' (all about dogs) from the series 'The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That'.

This book was good for her, even though there were some hard words for her to sound out, like 'Assistance' and 'Presentation', but other than the odd word she didn't know, she did very well with it and most importantly she enjoyed it. There was a reason I picked this one up for her and that's because our neighbours down the road just got a new puppy, so it was perfect for her to read.

The pictures are colourful and very bright, with great details of the dogs. I also enjoyed Little Miss P reading this to me and asking me more questions about dogs after it... however I don't really know about dogs so I had to look up the answers!

So if you have a child that likes dogs, this is a good book to get.

Life by the Sea

Morning all, hope you had a great week last week.

On Saturday we went on a little adventure to the beach. It's about an hour and half from us, but we have never been there before, so we wanted to check it out. I didn't take any photos as I was filming it instead, so the photos you see will be screen shots.

Little Miss P had a party that day so when that was finished we set off on our little adventure. The journey there was great, no traffic at all. When we got there Little Miss P got her net and was off to find some fish.

We didn't find any fish but we did find a few sea snails in the rock pools that were quite cute. We did put them all back. We also found a few Jellyfish washed up on the beach. We did put one back in the water but I think we might have been a bit to late to save them, but we didn't tell Little Miss P that bit. That might have upset her.

We didn't stay there long, about an hour, as we still needed to get food. We tried the closest pub to the Beach but it was full and didn't let kids in some of it. But the next pub we tried was lovely, it's called the Peldon Rose. It looks really posh and maybe expensive but it wasn't that expensive but with staff that where lovely and friendly. The food was really good too. When we go back to the beach we will definitely be going back there.

Party Planning

Each year we have a joint BBQ for our birthdays. It saves money and we can do it all in one day.
It's Little Miss P's birthday on the 3rd August, mine on the 5th August and Mr P's on the 21st September. So it just makes sense to us.

We have Little Miss P and her mates over from about 2pm - 4pm. We have a Bouncy Castle, play games, eat party food and have a BBQ going. Then from 4pm to when the last person leaves will be family and mine and Mr P's mates. We have about 50 people throughout the day in and out.

As we've just started planning it, Little Miss P has about 10 people on her list, and Mr P and I have about 15 on our list.

Thought we already had invitations but we only had three, so it looks like I will be going out to buy more this week. She's after Hello Kitty or Disney Princess ones.

And I've bought my first bit of food, woohoo. Two packs of party rings as they where on offer in Tesco for 50p a pack, Mini Rolls and a few other bits.

That's it for now and we'll keep you updated.

OOTD - 25th July 2014

Hello, it's the last outfit from the dance show

This is one of the cuter ones. The top half is a leotard she wore for last year's show. It just about fits her still but by next year's show it will not fit her. They got the skirt and put all the shiny things on it.

This was the best dance she did as well. It was Witchdoctor and all the kids did so well... maybe didn't stay in time all the time but they are five and six years old. Down below is a video of all the outfits she wore.

We have lost a tooth!

The tooth is out, yes her first wobbly tooth is out! The other day is was at a 45 degree angle all day and I said to her it would be out tomorrow, just stop wiggling it, so she did.

The next day she went to school and it was a normal day. I went to pick her up and she was smiling at me. I was looking at her thinking something was different but I just couldn't put my finger on what it was, until she handed me an envelope with a tooth in it!

I was so proud. It was a different big proud mummy moment and she looks so cute with a little gap in her teeth. We had a good chat on the way home from school about how it feels out and what she did. So here is the little story of how it happened.

 Little Miss P:
It fell out when it was carpet time. It just fell out Mummy. I put my hand up and the teacher thought I was asking a question but I said my tooth had fallen out. So Miss Stevens took me to have a glass of water and put my tooth in a little bag.

Me:
Did you cry and did it hurt?

Little Miss P:
No Mummy it just fell out.

That's all that she really said about it. That night the tooth fairy came and she got given a £2 coin as that's all I had on me at the time. She put it in her saving pot bless her. No more are wobbly at the moment, but it won't be too long before the next one is.

That's our little story, hope you enjoyed it.

OOTD: 18th July 2014

Hello everyone,

This is number three of the dance outfits the dance school bought them from Primark. But they got them all in big sizes so they cut the bottoms off them and made them into bows. Here Little Miss P is wearing size 7-8 years and it's not really too big for her, it's only slightly big.

I had to sew the straps to make them smaller and that was the first time I have ever done that. I was so pleased with myself; it lasted for the dance show and it's still to this day sewn together, oh yes, go me.

Check out below the look book we put together.

Passion Fruit Body Butter Review

Hello Everyone, it's review Thursday!

I am giving a Beauty review a go. It's the Passion Fruit Body Butter from the Body Shop, the most famous product from the shop (well I think it is).

As you can see I have nearly finished it.

It smells so good and this body butter is fantastic for dry skin. I have eczema so having a body lotion is what I need. I love everything about the Body Shop body butter; the texture, the smell, the amount you get. It's so creamy that it doesn't absorb straight into the skin, so after I've put the body butter on I lay on the bed naked for it to go into my skin.

I find this body lotion high quality and will be going to buy some more soon as I have nearly run
out of this one.

RRP: £12.00, 200ML

Photo Gallery #193

My View Right Now

As of 13th June at 7.46pm Little Miss P and Mr P are having a game on the Wii before little one goes to bed. I think we need to get her a new game soon as this one is quite babyish for her now.

Well I am off now, going to put the little lady to bed and have some pie for dessert. Not sure which one it is, we picked it up from Loughton Farmer's Market.

July Mini Goals

Finish off the bathroom
This one was on May's Mini Goals & June's Mini Goals just to do the last few bits and buy the bathroom cabinet but we didn't get that done, due to the hubby and I having stinking colds. So this one has been carried forward again.

Put the logo on this blog site
I have come up with a logo for the top of this blog and to use in other places; just need to do the last bits to it and then place it up.This was a June one too, so it needs to carry on again.

Get the house ready for the BBQ
It's our birthday party coming up soon for all three of us. The garden is getting there, just needs a bit more more work and I really need to sort the house out as it's a mess.

What we did in June
One thing I did that I said I wanted to do is save some money and we did just by knowing what I am spending my money on and not buying that little extra chocolate bar (that has been hard as I do love a bit of chocolate).

Headache & High Temperature

Prince Hill, Little Miss P and I

Hello Everyone I am back,

The last few weeks we have had the most horrible bug going round my Daughter's school. Little Miss P picked it up on the Tuesday after her dancing show, I am guessing as she was so tired still from the show she was just more susceptible to it. It just had to come out on the wrong day though didn't it.

On that Tuesday she went to school as normal but it was fun day. Go Karting, Bird Show, Bouncy Castle, she was so excited. Then I got a phone call from the school at about 10.40 to come and get her, as she was ill... I felt so sorry for her. When I saw her waiting in the office for me to come and get her she did look ill, so I picked her up and as we were walking out she just burst into tears. I asked her why and she said she wanted to stay as she hasn't gone on the bouncy castle yet. My heart was broken when she said that, but she was just too ill to stay.

So most of my week has been looking after the little one. Although she's a lot better now it seems like Mr P and I have it. We're now coming to the end of our bug that she passed on to us, so we're starting to feel more normal, even though as I write this my head is feeling a little bit dizzy still, but this is the first time being on the laptop for the past week.

Will try and be a bit more on top of the blog from next week.

OOTD: 4th July 2014

Here is outfit number two from the show.
This was for her drama group, singing 'I Have No Strings' from Pinocchio. It is a bit big for her but they got them like that so they can wear them again next year.

It's a white and red top made with very thin material, with a blue and white skirt in a dungarees style. She looked very cute as when she wore it in the show she had her hair up in a bun, with a little bit of makeup on. Sorry, we couldn't take any photos at the show but they did film it, so I might be able to get a bit of footage.

First Wobbly Tooth

Little Miss P has her first Wobbly Tooth and she wasn't too sure about it to being with. Not in a scared way, just in a way of not knowing what's going to happen. The thing with Little Miss P is that she likes to know what's going on and what's happening and right now she doesn't.

So I have sit down with her and had a little chat. We've spoken about what's going to happen and the thing she was most worried about was the teachers telling her to pull it out. So I have spoken to the teacher and asked them not to say it to her (not that they would have done anyway). The other thing she was talking about was what happens if she swallows it and will the fairy still come. My reply to that is of course. The Fairies are magical; they know even if you swallow it.

After that she seemed a lot better. We're still waiting for it to fall out and it is getting a lot more wobbly so by next week I am guessing it will be out. Let's she how she takes it when it comes out... I hope that she is at home when it does.

Mrs P
