Thyroid issues ~ CT scan

CT SCAN ( Saturday 30th October)

Well with this one there is a whole story.

So I was due to have the scan, but every time I asked about it from previous appointment I just got told it’s still waiting to be cleared to be able to do it,  then I finally got thought to some in the ENT department. Who say there are two doctors and one of them wants you to have and the other said you don’t need to.I was ok with that but when they decided If I can have the scan it can’t be over the October half term as I am going away and I gave them the dates I was going away.

Then the next day I had a call saying can I come in the next day and have my scan , to this I said no and then they started to get funny with me and kind blame me for not being to come in, and this point I explain that I was going away, and that only yesterday I got told what was going on and passed on the dates that I couldn’t do. He sounded if more worked up and said fine can you do next Saturday which I say I could, it was just a little bit wired I thought.

Now on to the scan, my scan was due at 3.30 and I had to be there at 3 o’clock so half an hour before my appointment, I can’t eat four hours beforehand but I’m still allowed to drink water well it did say sip water . When I turned up there was about four of us kind of turning up all at the same time. Out of the four I was the second one in. And the only one that had to get out of my top and bra and put on one of them horrible robe things on.

When it was my turn to get called in , I got walked into this big white room with the Machine in the middle. Four squares on the ceiling has a kind of light blue sky picture on it, and that is where you lay down on the Machine and looked up and that’s what you see.

When it came to putting the needle in not going to lie this bit actually hurts, The needle is bigger than a blood test needle, and it was just very uncomfortable,  she did explain to me that when they put the whatever it is they put in my body to show up my thyroid and lungs, I would get a very warm feeling across my body and feel like I need to pee, and that definitely happened that was a very weird feeling. But as soon as it came it went.

When in the machine it tells you when to breathe and hold your breath I wasn’t expecting that so the first time it happened it kind of shocked me and I don’t think I did it right, but after the first one of that I think I’ve got the hang of it. It’s weird because the machine is actually quite noisy, and you’re in this room on your own, and the machine is just going in circles around you. Obviously is taking the photos it needs for what they are looking for but it’s actually quite daunting for someone who hasn’t had one of these before.  Overall I was in the machine for about 10 to 5 minutes. So it actually wasn’t long at all.

I’m writing this the day after my CT scan and my arm is still kind of aches from where the needle went in and it has come up in a bit of a bruise. Other then that I am feeling fine and doing everything that I normal do.

Thyroid issues- ultrasound biopsy/ biopsy results

Thyroid ultrasound guided biopsy ( Wednesday 13th October

I was very anxious the night before having my biopsy done as having a needle stuck in your neck is the things you see in horror films,  my mum took me to this she wait in the car as she was not aloud in, I turned up and had to go and sit in a chair and wait outside room number five,  someone came out just as I sat down. And the doctor asked if they could have my seat as they feeling very dizzy. She has a drink of water in her hands down her hand was shaking.  So I wasn’t looking forward to it even more now.

Actually it was okay it didn’t hurt at all, went in and laid down on the bed. First they did a normal ultrasound, to see where they will be doing the biopsy then the needle went in, I could feel it going in. And it only took a few seconds to get the sample. After I had to wait outside the room for 5mins then I was free to go.  After a bit I did feel a little light headed but other then that I was ok,

Consultant Biopsy results ( Thursday 28th October)

This was another this that I  was anxious for ( most thing now I am a little bit anxious for)  so basically my biopsy came back as inconclusive. And they told me that they have to remove my left thyroid then do a biopsy on it after the op, as it still could be cancerous (1 in 4 people ) and if it is I will have remove my right thyroid removed They talked about other thing but I can’t remember everything they said. They already had my op booked it, and that’s the 15th November and have to be there at 7am, as I am guessing I am one of the first ones in for my op , been told it could take from anywhere from 2hours to 3hours , and they might take all my thyroid, if they have to.

Obviously there are risks involved with all operations, and some of them for this is voice box damage and cutting my Nerves and very close to some very important veins.  I’ll so have to be in Hosptial for 1/3 nights depending on how I heal.  Hoping only 1 night but will just have to wait and see.

Thyroid issues scope - Scope / x2 blood test

 ENT Scope ( 5th October)

As I said in my last blog post on the 5th of October I had an ENT Appointments not really knowing what I was going for, i’ve got a phone call early in the morning asking if I could make my appointment earlier which I did, it’s always good to get them out the way.  Got called into a room with a nurse and the trainee nurse, The Trainee nurse was setting up the Scope which at the time I didn’t know that was called that. The nurse said to me if I’ve had this done before and as I didn’t have a clue what was going on I did say I don’t know what I’m having done, then she explained to me that I was having a camera put up my nose to see down my throat, and that it would feel a bit uncomfortable.

A few moments later my doctor came in and said what was going on, and to relax and rest my head back a bit, and then camera went up my nose, and then felt it in my neck which was an uncomfortable and very weird feeling,  he said to me breathe through my nose and make a laughing sound.  And then pulled it back out. Not gonna lie that was a very strange experience for me.  After that we went back to another room just to say what the next plans were.  Which is another blood test and a scan and ultrasound biopsy.

Blood test number 2 ( 7th October)

I got this quite quickly I could get it on the day but they had no space for me so just got it done as soon as I could. Nice a simply basically went straight in and straight out. It as also funny that work friend was there getting a blood test to.

An other blood test ( 12 October )

This test is for a fall blood count test and clotting  I didn’t think that I would have to have another one but as I had one only on the Thursday before this one and I did ring up to double check as I wasn’t sure if they sent me for an other blood test by accident  but no it’s another one. This is for a fall blood count and clotting  ready for my CT scan Which hasn’t got a date yet. As I write this

Thyroid issues - blood test / scan

I don’t even knew where to start with this Other then the beginning but I am not sure where the beginning really is.

I think the beginning start with covid so the start is 11th November 2020.  When I got Covid from the place where I work so in other words I picked it up from one of the kids.  With covid I got the headaches that felt like I was hit with a brick and felt like a I had the flu but that was it.

I went back to work three weeks after as I had to do the isolating from when Mr P tested positive. And that was fine as it gave me a little bit more time to recover. But when I went back to work I still got the headaches, and just generally felling tired more of the time.  And still feel like that today it hasn’t really stopped.

Now let’s skip to August 2021 when it was Little Miss P had her 13th birthday party. She has her friends over and the next day was the family one, when my sister mention the lump on my neck. I have seen it before she mentioned it, but as it wasn’t bothering me I just left it as I thought my neck might be just a bit inflamed due to me not feeling alright still, and maybe having long covid symptoms.  And now my sister , mum and Nanna knew about I had to get a doctor appointment, as I wouldn’t hear the end of it until I got one.

I got an appointment at the doctor on the I think on the 9 th August I didn’t have that one actually written down, all she said was we book you in for a blood test and scan,

 Blood test ( 16th August)

So I had to go and book my blood test at the front desk at the doctors, The only time they had available was  Wednesday, the 1st of September so that would make it a three week wait, for a blood test. Not going to lie I was a little bit annoyed. But that’s all they had so I had to take it. When I was on the phone to one of my friends and she said book it thought this link which she sent me. And they do the blood test upstairs room of our doctor, and I got an appointment on the 16th August which was only a week later. It would’ve been nice for doctor to tell me about this other service.

My blood test results all came back fine other than that I am low looks Folick acid. Which they said to me could because why my thyroids are with playing up. So got given Folick acid tablets.

 The scan ( 20th September)

So the scan finally came through about 6 1/2 weeks later for the 20th September at my local hospital, they were absolutely amazing .I got there half an hour early and got seen straight away, didn’t even have time to take my coat off. Both the people in the room were really nice and he did say to me that I had a large nodule on my left side. But that’s all he said as he said my results will be sent to my doctors.  Have to admit I did feel really weird having ultrasound on my neck.

 Scan results

I rang up the scan results on Thursday after my appointment got told they were in but haven’t been checked by the doctor yet and ring back the next day for an appointment. So I did exactly that and they still hadn’t been checked by the doctor. In the end I got told to just book an appointment on Monday morning so they have to look at it.  Had a phone call with the doctor saying that I have one large nodule and four small nodules, and I have now been transferred to the ENT department at the hospital for an urgent appointment within two weeks, when people say things like that it’s never good news. So my appointment for the hospital is on the 5th of October. So now it’s just a waiting game to see what’s actually going on.

Tuesday 12 October 2021

It’s been a minute

It’s been a long time since I have even looked at this little blog , or even thought about it. The only reason I even remember I had a blog was just a spear of the moment thing , while sitting on the sofa watching my husband play worms on the Wii.

Also helps that I have a lot on my mind and wanting to take my mind of it.  ( once I got my head round what’s going on them I will probably put it up here, as I am writing it down all down in my little note pad that I carry around with me.

So updates on what’s been going on, well Mr P has got a new job working as a school business manager so far he seems to be enjoying it and coming home at a good time in the evening now. Little miss P is not so little anymore and is tall then me and the hubby. She also has asthma now, buts that’s a whole different story.  She also in year 9 in high school which I can’t really believe considering she hasn’t even been at school a whole school year yet because of covid.  And other then that she is still a happy teenager and just gets on with life.

And for me I still work at school. And my little Etsy shop is still going but now it’s doing a lot better then it has ever done before And I do really enjoy doing it still.

So not to much has changed really, we are all still alive and both Mr P and I both had covid. Not 100% sure if Little Miss P  has had it,

Well that’s the update for now.  And I am sure there will be more to come.
