Our Weekend

We went on a little weekend away last weekend. It's where we go for our summer holiday each year.

So we rang Mr P's Uncle up asking if anyone was in it and we were lucky as there wasn't. So we packed our bags on Friday and off we went for our little adventure, and it's a special weekend this weekend as it's Mr P's birthday.

We spent most of time at the beach and just having fun as a little family. On Saturday we spent all the morning at the beach and then we went to try and find some animals, but that fell through the place we went to find is not there any more, so we played in the park for a bit and went to a lovely Italian restaurant called Giardino, where the food was lovely. We will be going back there next summer.

On Sunday we didn't wake up until 9.30am so we spent most of the morning at the little chalet
then we headed out for an afternoon of fun at Ranworth Broad. We have never been there before and we just happened to come across it and oh my I love it, we all did.

The Floating Broads Wildlife Centre is on water so you can feel it move under your feet and it's great to see if you can spot any animals on the water. You can sometimes spot an otter on there but we didn't (although Little Miss P thinks she saw one, which made her day, bless her).

Our weekend was short but so much fun. We need to do more things like this as a little family as it was so fun and chilled out.

The Manny - Book Review

Welcome to the grid, home to New York's ΓΌber rich, where a manny - a male nanny - is the hottest new hire in town.

And Peter Bailey is young, fun and drop-dead gorgeous. He could be the answer to Jamie Whitfield's prayers, even if her husband disagrees.

Like Jamie, Peter comes from a very different world to the grid. He's cool, calm and he sees right through her attempts to fit in with her chic, sleek neighbours.

Ditching high society dinner for dancing in Brooklyn, Jamie begins to wonder if a married uptown girl can fall for a downtown guy. He's good for her children. Could the manny be good for her too..?

My View

First of all it takes a long time to get into the book. So much so that I nearly put the book down to start a new one but I persisted as I thought I needed to read all of it and give myself a chance to review it properly. I am glad I did, as the story started to get a bit more juicy. Not too sure if I would read it again as it just took too long to get into and I want a book that gets me drawn into it at the beginning.

A bit more info about the book

Jamie and her husband may be rich but, unlike the other wives, she is a working mum and as such struggles to fit in with the lifestyle of the neighbours and this worries her rather neurotic husband. As life heats up in both Jamie's career and family life, it all seems too much to cope with. However, their life gets much more exciting when this is reversed by Jamie acquiring the must-have accessory of a male nanny and they are the family to be kept up with.

Mobile Phone... Really?

Hello, I am doing this post because of one thing Little Miss P asked me in the car at the weekend...

We were driving home from my mum's house when she just came out with:

Summer: Mummy, when can I get a phone?

Oh my, my mouth just opened up in shock thinking where the hell did that come from? So I asked her and she said her friend has one. And my mouth just opened again in shock.

Me: Really Summer, are you sure they said they have one?
Summer: Yes mummy, the twins have them.
Me: Summer, when you go out with your friends on your own to the park or down the shops then I will get you a mobile phone.
Summer: Why do they have them then?
Me: I don't know, but they don't really need them. Who will they be calling?
Summer: OK mummy.

But after that I was thinking really who gives a six year old a mobile phone? What will they do with it other than maybe play games on it, but why stick them on a phone? Why don't you play board games with the kids?

I can honestly say that Summer will not be getting a phone at the age of six and even at the age of seven. Not sure when I will give her her first phone but it won't be just yet! I have to say I am still in a bit of shock that she asked me and I am going to have to ask the child's mum if it's true or not.

That's my little rant over for now but am I wrong thinking it's too young to give a kid a phone and what age should I?

Please let me know what you think.

Haul

It's a bit of an odd haul here, a lot of different bits that I have bought over the last few weeks

1) First on our list are these cute trainers in aqua and grey. I love these colours together and best of all they only cost £12.00 from Asda

2)  Sex in the City Eau De Parfum. I got this as it smells just like Ralph Lauren Ralph, that sweet, fresh and girly smell that I love about it. But the Sex and City one is cheaper at only £7.00 for a 100ml bottle.

3) My Little Pony Rainbow Dash. Little Miss P got this with her own money that she got for her birthday and it goes to bed with her every night x

4)  My sister picked these books up for Little Miss P from the carboot sale. It's the Rainbow Magic Fairy series for £1! They don't even looked like they have been read and you get 7 in the box, so Little Miss P will have lots of fun reading them to me.

That's it for our tiny haul, hope you enjoy it.

Africa Alive 2014

Our day at Africa Alive. We go every year when we go to Kessingland, as it's just down the road. We use our Tesco Clubcard points so we don't have to pay any money for it.

The weather was nice for it as it didn't rain. There's not much I can say about the zoo other than we all had a great time.

There is a little story about the lions where they had a argument when they were eating and daddy lion had to break them up. We asked if it was normal for them and the keeper said it wasn't and that she had reported the fight and that they would be keeping an eye on them. Later on in the day we went back to the enclosure to see them and some of them had been separated from each other, and one of them had a little cut on its leg.

We hope they are all ok and back to being happy lions. Will have to send the zoo an email soon and ask them.

Next year we are hoping to do the Plains of Africa experience there where you go in the Savannah where animals roam freely. You get to go in the car and feed the Giraffes but you have to be 6 years or older and I think one more year and Summer will be up for it.

If you are nearby you have to go for a visit. As a family we love it; here are the rest of our photos of the day (well not all of them, some of them)... I hope you enjoy them.

I like this one of Summer milking a pretend cow

OOTD - 5th September 2014

Hello everyone, here is Little Miss P's outfit of the day. It's an outfit for a nice chilling day at home or just doing a bit of shopping and as the summer by the looks of it is coming to an end, and it's getting colder, we've picked a nice cozy one.

The Jumper is a bit too big for her in the arms but it is a size bigger than we normally get.
We picked this cute lilac jumper up from Tesco as it was in the sale for £4 and Little Miss P liked it as it has a bit of bling around the neckline.

Her cute jogging bottom with a few bufferflies and flowers on them are from Tesco... I didn't realise that until I just looked at the label, so by the looks of it she's having a Tesco clothing day.

Well I think it looks very cute on, and it's so cosy.

Graze box review,

Coffee and Walnut cake
This one was for the hubby as it's all his favourite things rolled into one, well the healthier option anyway. He really enjoyed the chocolate coated Coffee beans. He really wants me to get this again, so he take it to work.

It has in it: Walnuts, Milk Chocolate Coated Roasted Coffee Beans, Sponge Pieces and Jumbo Raisins.

Apple & Cinnamon Flapjack
This one I loved. The first time I tried it I wasn't that keen on it, but once I was on the second one I loved it. Summer loved this one as well, if I get this again I will be putting one of them in her packed lunch bag.

Rustic rolled oats flapjack with apple and cinnamon.

Bonnie Wee Oatbakes
The hubby and I had this one evening while watching telly. I enjoyed the Oatbakes but I didn't really enjoy the Onion Marmalade, but the hubby loved all of it. I dipped the Oatbakes in my cup of tea and it still worked.
Red onion marmalade with cheese and chive oatbakes

Rhubarb & Pear compote
This was another one the hubby took to work with him, he enjoyed it and he would eat it again but that's all he said. I don't think it would be one where you like love it and want it again soon, just an OK one.

Day On A Boat

When we went on our little holiday a few weeks ago, for one of the days we hired a boat along with Mr P's mum and dad. We got the boat at Wroxham and had it for four hours. It was the first time that we had done something like this along the Norfolk Broads.

I really enjoyed it just chilling out at the back of the boat, reading a bit of my book and taking photos of the world going by.

Little Miss P got bored after two hours into it, so I had to make it fun for her by helping her grandad drive it and being second in command. She seemed to enjoy it.

After the boats Mr P's mum and dad left us to go back home and we ended up going on a four hour drive around Norfolk, I don't have a clue why, but Little Miss P did get a good nap in.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post and see you tmo.
